Our commitment
Central Tablelands Housing Association is committed to providing all our clients with the highest levels of service. This includes protecting your privacy. As from 21 December 2001, amendments to the Privacy Act came into force. The Act provides for personal information to be protected. While we are exempt from the Act, we place a high priority on ensuring that the policies and procedures used by Central Tablelands Housing Association are in line with the new Act.
Your personal information
Personal information held by us may include your
- Name
- date of birth,
- current address
- telephone/fax numbers
- income details
- occupation
- household component
- Ethnic or racial origin
If you choose not to provide us with this information, we may not be able to assist you in your housing needs, as we cannot process your housing application without it. However, any information given to us will not be disclosed to members of the public.
Information may be passed between external organisations only when:
- You have signed an authority allowing us to do so.
- Where there is a lawful reason to do so
- Where an exemption is granted
If you sign THE CONSENT to release information form:
Any information collected will not be used for any other purpose other than what is required by our funding body (The Office of Community Housing) or as set out in the Authority to Release Information form.
If you sign THE CONSENT to release information form but change your mind:
If you have already provided information allowing us to release information to another service provider but have changed your mind and don’t want that information used, you may revoke this Authority at any time by signing the section of the form which allows you to do this. Remember however, that we may not be able to assist you with your housing needs if certain information is not provided.
If your personal information changes
You are able to access and have corrected any information concerning you. To make these changes you must visit the office and provide proof of your identity.
If you are unable to make inquiries in person
If you want an advocate, friend or relative to make inquiries about your application or tenancy on your behalf, you will have to give them written permission to do so (unless you already have a signed authority in place). The written permission will only relate to you and no-one else listed on your application form (except children in your care).
Your Rights
You have a right to access and correct any information concerning you in accordance with the relevant procedures under the Act. The access to this information will be in accordance with Central Tablelands Housing Association’s Policy and Procedures.

Interpreter help
Central Tablelands Housing Association will assist you if you have difficulty in understanding English or have difficulty with written and/or spoken English. We will get in touch with the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) who will telephone us at no cost to you.
